Missed your Library Induction? Here's some helpful information

by Dawn Grundy on 2020-11-09T09:00:00+00:00 | 0 Comments

Since the beginning of September Academic Librarians have been really busy delivering Library Inductions to all new students at the university.

If you enrolled late or missed your library induction for any other reason, here’s some tips from the team

  • Check with your tutor whether the library induction session was recorded and added to Moodle, many of them were, so you can watch the session anytime! They’ll also be some Powerpoint slides with key information to accompany it. If you have any problems finding this information on your Moodle page, check with your tutor or contact your Academic Librarian
  • Check out your Subject Guides, a really good introduction to library services and resources for your programme
  • Have a look at your module reading lists which are all available on Reading Lists Online, this is the quickest and easiest way to access lecturer recommended resources for each module
  • Book on one of the Library Workshops – we’ve got sessions on Discover, Refworks as well as others, these are running in November, just book online.
  • LEAP Online- the university academic skills portal, has a My Research Needs section with lots of information and tutorials to support you in using our resources. You’ll see some sections are highlighted as part of the Library Induction series -and aimed at introducing you to our resources
  • Ask a member of staff – we have the Library Chat and you can also email or phone us. These are the best ways to contact us if you have a question on any of our services.

If you require some more in depth help and would like a one to one, you can book a Research appointment here as well.

We’ve definitely got you covered, so good luck and enjoy exploring our resources!
