Latest Updates on Library Services

by Tim Leonard on 2020-09-08T13:29:00+01:00 | 0 Comments

The Government has announced new national restrictions from 5th November 2020. The University remains open during this time, and the Library is still offering on-campus services Monday-Friday, 8am-8pm.

You can book a slot to borrow or return items or browse the shelves. You can also book a desk for individual study - and we've increased the booking slot to three hours. You can book up to 12 hours in a week - see How do I book a desk? for more details.

We continue to offer a wide range of services online:

There are also a number of online sessions available during November to help you get the most out of online library resources.

Visiting the Library

Students can only visit the Library on their timetabled sessions on campus. Please consult your departmental timetable for details of when this is. The Library will be open Monday-Friday, 8am-8pm. If you are not allocated to come in on a certain date, it is really important that you stay at home and make use of online library resources and support.

If visiting the library you must book a slot in advance.

When visiting the Library please enter via the Main Entrance (off the SLZ) and exit via Library Entrance 2 (next to the Chaplaincy). A one way system is in place for your safety. You must wear a mask or face covering when on campus, and you must observe social distancing guidelines. If you have booked a desk, please check in when you arrive for your booking.

The following services will not be available this term:

  • Group Study Rooms
  • Laptop loans
  • Binding
  • Stationery and consumable sales
  • Payments by cash at the Helpdesk

All fines accrued during the lockdown period will be waived. Please contact us if you have any concerns. Recalls for on-loan books will be reintroduced at a later date.
