Laptop Loans

The Library's main laptop loan service is available again - and the loan period has been extended from three hours to five hours. Laptops are available from the Laptop Lockers near the Peter Marsh Library Helpdesk. Just swipe your ID card to open a locker and the laptop will be issued to your Library account.

Five Hour Loan laptops may be taken anywhere on campus but they must be returned before the end of the five hour period. See details of fines for overdue items.

Longer term laptop loans for eligible students

If you have received full entitlement of Student Finance support you may qualify to borrow a laptop for a longer period of time. Please contact the Student Advisors to make an application.

Short term loans for students

If you are struggling for access to a laptop and need to borrow one on a short term basis, for example while your personal laptop is being repaired, short term loans are available from the Library Helpdesk. These loans last until the end of the academic year and are issued on a first-come first-served basis.

These loans will not be renewed so if you need a longer term loan please see the student centre contact information above.

Unlike last year's scheme you do not need to contact a tutor for approval, just ask at the desk for a loan.

Laptops borrowed under this scheme are issued to your library account in the same manner as a book.

If you have any queries about either scheme please email library@bolton.ac.uk

University Staff

Staff needing to borrow a laptop for work purposes should discuss their needs with their line manager and Head of Department. Their Head of Department can make a request on their behalf to the Head of Information Systems and Technology.

Once the request is approved, a member of the Library Helpdesk will be in touch to arrange the loan of the device.

Headsets

You can borrow a headset from the Peter Marsh Library Helpdesk. If making a video call or participating in an online lesson we recommend use of the Group Study Zone or SLZ. They must be returned before the end of the four hour period. See details of fines for overdue items
