Subject Specific OER Repositories

Some OER repositories may take a more subject-specific approach, or be focused around certain types of media like images or software. This is not intended to be an exhaustive list of OER Repositories, merely a selection that may be a useful starting point.

Art

VADS
VADS provides a national collection of over 140,000 images from over 300 art and design collections across the UK, which are freely available for non-commercial use in education. The images cover the broad range of the visual arts including applied arts, architecture, design, fashion, fine art, and media. VADS is a service of the Library at the University for the Creative Arts (UCA).
British Library on Flickr Commons
The British Library’s collections on Flickr Commons offer access to millions of public domain images.
Feature Films at the Internet Archive
Feature films, shorts, silent movies and trailers. Works that were completed in 1923 or earlier are generally in the public domain. Many of the films are licensed with Creative Commons Licenses, but please check the metadata for the specific item.
