To complement our robust safeguarding practices, and to support your personal development, LEAP Online have collaborated with departments across the University to develop and introduce the following safeguarding topics: Safeguarding, British Values and Prevent. By completing the assessment for each of these modules, University of Bolton students will have the opportunity to earn a gold-standard LEAP Online digital badge.

Let’s take a brief look at each section in turn.

Safeguarding

The University have a formal responsibility to safeguard children and adults at risk. However, it is also important that our students share in that responsibility - safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility! This Safeguarding Tutorial provides the opportunity for students to enhance their existing safeguarding knowledge and understand more about the role they should play to safeguard themselves and others.

British Values

The fundamental British Values underpin what it is to be a citizen in a modern and diverse Great Britain. The same British Values can also be applied to help ensure your learning environment is free from discrimination and intolerance. In this section on LEAP Online, you will learn more about the fundamental British Values, why they are important and explore some of the ways in which they are promoted at the University.

Prevent

The University’s approach to Prevent is to safeguard the safety and wellbeing of its community from being drawn into radicalisation and terrorism. This is also balanced with the University’s commitment to ensure academic freedom, speech and other key legislation is protected. LEAP Online's Prevent Tutorial allows students to develop their existing knowledge on radicalisation and terrorism and understand more about the role they can play to safeguard themselves and other members of the University community.

Good luck with these sections and don't forget, for each assessment you pass, you will earn a gold-standard digital badge, which will be saved to your Moodle profile.
